Marcus Woods is the Manager of Education at DMSF, where he is dedicated to empowering Murphy Scholars to thrive academically, personally, and as future leaders.

A lifelong Chicagoan, Marcus was born and raised in the Chatham neighborhood on the city’s South Side. He graduated as Valedictorian of the Urban Prep Charter Academy – Englewood Campus Class of 2012 before earning a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology & Anthropology with a minor in Studio Art from Denison University. He is also a proud member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc.

Marcus brings a wealth of experience supporting students throughout their educational journeys. Prior to joining DMSF, he served as Manager of Student Information & Academic Success at Urban Prep West Campus, District Registrar for Oak Park Elementary School District 97, and High School Readiness Coordinator at Moving Everest Charter Academy. He also completed a year of service with City Year, where he mentored and tutored students at John Hope College Preparatory High School.

Marcus shares, “Every opportunity has deepened my passion and commitment to helping the next generation discover their true potential. Witnessing scholars grow in confidence, overcome obstacles, and reach their full potential has strengthened my commitment daily. As a Manager of Education, I look forward to continuing to build meaningful relationships, contributing to a positive school culture and guiding scholars to achieve both academic and personal success.” 

Outside of work, Marcus enjoys creating art, giving back to his community, and mentoring the next generation of leaders.
