Vanessa Ramirez, a proud Murphy Alumna from the Class of 2009, brings a passion for education and equity shaped by her Chicago upbringing and a family devoted to teaching. After earning a Daniel Murphy Scholarship in 8th grade, she attended The University of Chicago Lab School on a full-ride scholarship and later graduated from Suffolk University with a double major in Spanish and English Literature. Vanessa’s career spans advocacy for bilingual and immigrant rights, teaching high school Spanish on Chicago’s south side, and advising students at KIPP Chicago. Committed to cultural understanding, educational equity, and social justice, she strives to empower students to advocate for themselves and access quality education, believing in the transformative power of learning and the potential of every student.
