On Tuesday, May 19 we welcomed the Class of 2024 to the Murphy Family! It was an incredibly special event, despite being at a distance, that celebrated the potential, power, and passion of Murphy Scholars and the entire DMSF community.
Keynote Speaker

Jaime Guzman
Social & Community Impact Leader, Nike
A Chicago native, Jaime has spent his career focused on creating opportunity for young people across the city. He has worked as a leader at both national and regional change-making organizations: the Obama Foundation, My Brother’s Keeper Alliance, the Taproot Foundation, Big Shoulders Fund, UnidosUS, and Teach for America.
Jaime holds a Bachelor’s degree from Dartmouth College and a Master’s degree in Education from Harvard University. He lives in the Pilsen neighborhood with his wife Maria and son Ignacio.

Ramya
Murphy Scholar Class of 2021
Lake Forest Academy
Ramya, a rising senior at Lake Forest Academy, spoke about on her experiences as a student leader and Murphy Scholar. She offered sage advice about risk-taking, acceptance, and kindness. She reminded scholars, "You have already made it so far!"
Ramya was invited to speak because of her academic achievements, campus involvement, and commitment to excellence. Recently, Ramya received two great honors: first, she was named a prefect for the upcoming school year and second, she was invited to a pre-college program at the University of Notre Dame.
