Bud Billiken Parade 2025

Thanks to those who joined us on August 9 at the Bud Billiken Parade! We are grateful to this group for showing up, showing out, and repping DMSF.
Frequently Asked Questions
How long will we be walking in the parade?
You can expect to walk at least 1 mile with DMSF along the parade route. The parade itself is 2 miles long. Please wear comfortable shoes and be prepared for warm weather!
When and how do I get my DMSF T-shirt?
Free DMSF T-shirts will be provided to all registered participants on parade day at our meeting location. Be sure to arrive on time so you can receive your shirt before we start walking together.
Can I bring toddlers or younger children? Will they get a T-shirt too?
Yes, toddlers and younger children are welcome to join! We are only distributing T-shirts at adult sizes. Feel free to bring a shirt from home if you’d like to ensure they’re comfortable.
Can I bring a stroller?
Yes, strollers are allowed. Please be mindful of the crowd and the flow of the parade route.
Will food and beverages be provided?
DMSF will have water and granola bars available at the meetup area, but we recommend bringing a reusable water bottle to stay hydrated along the route. More hearty food will not be provided, so plan to bring what you need for yourself and your family. At the end point of the parade, there will be plenty of food vendors to check out!
What is the interview process?
Applicants selected for an interview will be advised of their interview date at least one week in advance of the interview date. At the interview, each applicant will meet with a panel of interviewers and a member of the DMSF Education team.
Is there a limit to how many people I can bring?
There is no strict limit, but we ask that you register all guests through the link provided so we can plan accordingly for T-shirts and group logistics.
Where exactly do we meet on parade day?
Our DMSF meeting point will be near the parade start, at or close to 39th Street and South King Drive in the Bronzeville neighborhood. The exact location will be shared with registered participants closer to the event date.
