Electronic Funds Transfer (ETF): A Simple Way to Give
- This method of donating allows your funds to be transferred directly from your bank account to DMSF’s account via a secure digital transaction. This process can be done through online banking, a payment processor, or a mobile banking app. For donations, an EFT can be set up as a one-time contribution or as recurring donations, offering a convenient and secure way to contribute without needing to use credit cards or checks. It is often preferred for its simplicity and lower fees compared to other payment methods.

Donor Advised Funds: Maximize Your Impact
Donor-advised funds (DAFs) provide you the ability to participate in a favorable tax efficient way with your charitable giving to support the Daniel Murphy Scholarship Fund. Administered by a financial services company such as Fidelity, Schwab and Vanguard or a Community Foundation, DAF’s allow you to give cash, stock or other assets to grant a specific amount to the Daniel Murphy Scholarship Fund (Tax EIN #: 36-3675466).
Please note that if you’re contributing via a Donor Advised Fund for any DMSF-related event packages, we encourage you to consult with a professional advisor.

IRA Contributions: A Tax-Wise Way to Invest in DMSF
- Support the Daniel Murphy Scholarship Fund through a gift from your IRA. If you’re 70½ or older, this tax-advantageous option allows you to make a meaningful impact while optimizing your charitable giving strategy.
AM I ELIGIBLE?
If you are 70½ or older at the time of your gift, you are eligible to give through your IRA. Your spouse can also contribute if they meet the same age requirement and own an IRA.
HOW MUCH CAN I GIVE?
You can give up to $100,000 from your IRA. If your spouse owns an IRA, they can give up to $100,000 as well.
WHY CONSIDER THIS OPTION?
It’s straightforward and you won’t pay income tax on the amount of your IRA charitable rollover.
IMPORTANT DETAILS
- Your gift must be sent directly to DMSF by your IRA custodian or administrator.
- Ask your custodian to make the check payable to the Daniel Murphy Scholarship Fund and ensure your name and address are included.
- Plan ahead: Transfers must be completed by December 31 to qualify for the current tax year. To ensure timely delivery, initiate your gift by December 15.
