Congratulations Murphy Scholars Class of 2026!
On Wednesday, May 18, we welcomed the newest scholarship recipients into the Daniel Murphy Scholarship Fund family. It was a special ceremony held at the Harris Theater, celebrated by Scholar families, DMSF partner schools, Murphy Scholar Alumni, DMSF Board of Directors, and many more. Thank you to our wonderful speakers and guests for welcoming in the bright new class of Murphy Scholars. We are so proud!

Our Speakers
Jose Campos, De La Salle Institute, Class of 2023

Jose Campos is currently a junior at De La Salle Institute on Chicago’s Southside. He is involved in a host of clubs and activities including National Honor Society, Spanish National Honor Society, Peer Ministry, Robotics, Student Council and Ambassadors Club. Jose also plays soccer and volleyball with his high school teams. Outside of school, Jose enjoys gardening with his dad and supporting his church with activities and events. As a member of SQ Scholars, Jose earned an opportunity to intern at Northwestern University during his sophomore year in the biomedical department. As a scholar, athlete, and proud member of his Southside community, Jose credits DMSF with helping him stay ahead of the game. “Before I began high school at De La Salle, DMSF helped me prepare for the upcoming essays and professional etiquette needed throughout one's high school journey,” noted Jose. He is excited to work with the DMSF team as he prepares for college. Jose Campos is a 2023 Murphy Scholar.

LeaAnn Trotter, NBC 5 Chicago

LeeAnn Trotter is a feature reporter covering Arts and Culture and events happening around the Chicago area. She's also a contributor to NBC 5’s "Making a Difference" segments.
The Chicago native joined NBC 5 in December 2005 after working at CLTV for eight years. There, she anchored the weekend news and hosted the award-winning entertainment show, "Metromix: The TV Show," which earned her a local Emmy and several nominations for Best On Camera Performance. Prior to working at CLTV, she was the News and Public Affairs Director at WUSN-FM, where she reported news on the morning show and hosted, "Chicago Up Close," a weekly public affairs show. LeeAnn began her broadcasting career at WBBM Newsradio 780, where she held numerous positions, including production manager and traffic reporter. LeeAnn graduated from the University of Illinois at Champaign with a degree in Broadcast Journalism, and attended high school at the Latin School of Chicago. |
