DMSF’s Model is Simple and Straightforward

We identify 8th grade students who have great potential but whose families lack the financial resources to send them to tuition-based, college preparatory high schools.

We help those students select quality high schools that can provide them with rigorous academic preparation, and we offer the Scholars financial assistance so they can attend these great high schools.

We operate a suite of programs, our Programs that Promote Persistence, which are designed to provide our Scholars with both the academic and social/emotional support they need in order to succeed in high school and college.
Our Model is UniqueThe Scholarship we provide is typically a portion of overall tuition; our model is unique in that our partner school approach and additive programming allows us to leverage significant additional funds from those partner schools to supplement the cost of tuition. On average, DMSF annually provides $5,000 in financial aid and another $2,500 in programmatic support to each Murphy Scholar. While the “sticker price” of each Murphy Scholarship can be valued at $30,000 over four years, we know educational access is priceless.

Our Impact Lasts A LifetimeThe programming and financial support we provide is available to our Scholars for all four years of high school, as long as they maintain the required 3.0 GPA. Our programs start even before our Scholars begin their first day of high school and continue through the challenges of high school, the college application process, the rigor of college, and as our alumni pursue rewarding careers.
