Full Circle Society, our monthly giving program
An investment in a Murphy Scholar requires more than just a one-time scholarship--it is a full circle commitment. We not only ensure access to a college-preparatory high school for all four yours, but we also commit to numerous supports and responsive programs that help each Scholar succeed in high school and beyond.
We ignite the potential of these motivated young individuals, recognizing that this life-changing opportunity will come full circle as our Scholars achieve great things in their careers, share their successes with their families and positively impact their communities.

Donor Advised Funds
Donor advised funds (DAFs) provide you the ability to participate in a favorable tax efficient way with your charitable giving to support the Daniel Murphy Scholarship Fund. Administered by a financial services company such as Fidelity, Schwab and Vanguard or a Community Foundation, DAF’s allow you to give cash, stock or other assets to grant a specific amount to the Daniel Murphy Scholarship Fund (Tax EIN #: 36-3675466).
IRA
Support DMSF with a gift through your IRA. There is no minimum required distribution from IRAs this year. If you are age 70½ or older, you can support DMSF through this tax-advantageous gift from your IRA.
- AM I ELIGIBLE? If you’re age 70 ½ or older at the time of your gift, you are eligible. Your spouse is eligible too, if they are also age 70 ½ or older and own an IRA.
- HOW MUCH CAN I GIVE? Up to a total of $100,000 from your IRA. Your spouse can give similarly from their IRA.
- WHY SHOULD I CONSIDER THIS? It’s simple to do and you won’t pay income taxes on your IRA charitable rollover gift amount.
- WHAT ELSE SHOULD I KNOW? Your gift must be sent directly to DMSF from your IRA custodian/administrator. Contact them to start the process and ask them to make the check payable to the Daniel Murphy Scholarship Fund. Be sure your name and address are on the check.
- Don’t wait until December 31! Your IRA custodian must have transferred the money from your IRA account by that date. To be safe, ensure mail by December 15.
