In celebration of Black History Month, DMSF is conducting a variety of programming activities for both Scholars and staff. On February 24, Murphy Scholars will view and discuss The Prep School Negro an autobiographical film by Andre Robert Lee. Lee recounts his youth as the son of a Black garment factory worker who received a scholarship at the age of 14 to attend a predominantly white prep school outside of Philadelphia. We will also host a Black History Month trivia night on Saturday, February 27.
On February 26, the DMSF staff will discuss The Vanishing Half by Brit Bennett. The #1 New York Times Bestseller and A Good Morning America Book Club Pick novel is about twin sisters, inseparable as children, who ultimately choose to live in two very different worlds.
